New Delhi:

India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases surged to 1,20,95,855 with 56,211 new infections, while the recoveries have surged to 1,13,93,021, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Tuesday.

The death count increased to 1,62,114 with 271 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed. 

Meanwhile, there would be no lockdown or curfew in Karnataka, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa confirmed on Monday. Mr Yediyurappa had chaired a meeting to discuss ways to deal with the continuous spike in coronavirus cases in Bengaluru. The daily average of new COVID-19 cases in the Bengaluru has reached around 1,377 while the city recorded 16,921 cases in just the last 14 days.

However, the state government is not considering any lockdown in the city. After the meeting with officials, the chief minister said there would be no lockdown or curfew.

AstraZeneca Covid Shots Not Recommended For Under 55s In Canada

A scientific committee advising Ottawa on Covid-19 vaccines was to recommend Monday halting use of the AstraZeneca shot for people aged under 55, a government source told AFP. Covid Beds For “Needy”, Not For Asymptomatic Patients As Cases Rise In Mumbai

Amid a rapid surge in the Coronavirus cases in Mumbai, its civic body authority on Monday directed hospitals and nursing homes against allotting Covid beds to asymptomatic patients to ensure “prompt availability of beds to the needy”. Goa reports 128 new COVID-19 cases

Goa reported 128 new COVID-19 cases, 101 recoveries and two deaths in the last 24 hours.

The total cases of COVID-19 in the state so far has reached 57,712. Total recoveries are 55,455, while the death count is 828, ANI reported.
